I find the tactical side of the game, extremely stimulating. I equate it to a game of chess. The challenge not only to push myself, but also my opponent across the table to a higher standard is rewarding.

I’m fairly new to the billiards scene, having started in 2024, though I played casually when I was younger. I formed our team, the UNDER DAWGS, with my sister and mom as a fun way to spend time together. My sister has since passed, but I feel her presence with us every game. This year, I joined the league as a new director to help keep the sport fun, welcome players of all ages, and encourage new friendships. The league has been incredibly supportive, generously sharing their knowledge and skills with our team.

Pool, for me, is my zen. I love that every time you step to the table, it’s a different game. My full focus is on the game and nothing else matters. It is therapeutic for me. I also love it because my dad taught me how to play once I was tall enough to hold a cue and reach the table which was around 11 or 12 years old. My dad is no longer here on this earth and pool is my connection to him.
